Budget Tips - Monaco
Tips, suggestion and information about Monaco: Budget Tips
A budget trip in Monaco, this international tax heaven, tourist hotspot and host of Formula one Grand Prix, may seem like an unlikely challenge but with good advice even the playground of the rich and famous can be made accessible to us proles.
It doesn’t bode well that one of the advertised way of getting here is by helicopter! Much better for our purposes is the excellent trains that run several times hourly to Nice, Cannes, Menton and Ventimiglia (Italy). Alternatively Bus route 100 leaves every 15 minutes from the central bus station (Gare Routière) in Nice and costs €1!
Once here take to the streets of Monaco-Ville, a surprisingly picturesque village set amidst the urban sprawl. The Monaco Cathedral, 1875, is well worth a visit and is most spectacular from the outside, as is the Palais Princier.
For food on the cheap, look to simple cafes along the marina side offering cheap nutritious eats such as pizza and salads.
