Wild Nature - Zanzibar
Tips, suggestion and information about Zanzibar: Wild Nature
The island of Zanzibar is separated from mainland Tanzania from a 22-mile long channel; it's an archipelago that also includes the Pemba Islands and many islets, located in the Indian Ocean.
The wild nature island of Zanzibar itself is 60 miles long and 20 miles wide; its highliting charachteristics include spectacular wild sandy beaches and the magic of historic Stone Town, that's actually said to be the only East African functioning ancient town, definetely a place to explore!
The beaches in Zanzibar are an utmost paradise; dotted with little fishing villages where people live a simple life, unchanged throughout the ages.
There are more than 25 spectacular beaches and most are so peaceful and remote that the only sound you'll hear is the little waves crushing on the sandy shore.
North of the island lies Nungwi, approached by a road lined by banana palms, mangrowes and coconut trees. It's a good place to see traditional craftmen's work of the island. On the West Coast worth exploring are vibrant and wild nature beaches basically untouched by human hand.
For a day trip, try sailing to the small off-shore islands: Chango is the most popular and visitors will have the chance to experience the rare scene, not so rare then here, of seeing the Aldabra tortoise!
