South Australia is located in the southern-centralregion of the Australian continent. It is the fourth largest of the country’s eight states and covers some of the most arid parts of the continent. It is bordered by Western Australia in the west, the Northern Territory in the north, Queensland in the east and the Southern Ocean in the south. The terrain is mostly desert and semi-arid with low mountain ranges. The highest point is Mount Woodroffe at 1,500 m.
