Schloss Ambras or the Innsbruck Castle was built by Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria, the Count of Tirol in 16th century. The castle is divided into a lower and an upper castle style in the remains of a medieval fortress. This was also a favorite residence of Ferdinand and the center of his cultural life. There are displays like arms and armor, books and art works which can be seen at present. Some of the most striking feature of this monument is the Altar of Emperor Maximilian I by George.
