Art Gallery of Alberta - Art galleries in Edmonton
Boasting a permanent collection of over 6,000 works, the Art Gallery of Alberta in Edmonton shows off the incredible creative talent of the country’s top artists. Inside the walls of the gallery’s unique and futuristic building are thousands upon thousands of paintings, sculptures and photographs from some of the most renowned artists in Canada and the world.
The art gallery’s three floors of exhibition space make it one of western Canada’s foremost museums and give visitors a complete artistic perspective of the area’s people, culture and scenery. After a recent $88 million renovation project, the 8,000 square-metre (85,000 square feet) gallery building is now also home to a gift shop, restaurant and 150-seat theatre.
The gallery is located at 2 Sir Winston Churcholl Square in downtown Edmonton. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on the weekend and is closed Mondays. Admission is $12.50 CDN for adults, $8.50 for seniors and free for kids age six and under.
