In the shadow of downtown Vancouver, British Columbia lies Spanish Bank in English Bay. Not far from some of the area’s top restaurants and shopping destinations, Spanish Bank has become known for its views of the majestic Vancouver skyline, sailboats as they float along the waves and the breathtaking natural scenery as much as its clean waters and comfortable beachfront.
Spanish Bank includes three of the most popular beaches in Vancouver, Spanish Bank East, Spanish Bank West and Spanish Bank Extension. You can’t go wrong at any of them, although visitors should keep in mind that Spanish Bank’s western arm is a quiet beach, with no amplified music allowed.
A favorite summer hang-out spot for many locals, Spanish Bank is approximately 25 minutes from the heart of Vancouver and is a short drive from nearby Jericho Beach. If looking to stay dry, visitors have the choice of relaxing on the Spanish Bank’s sandy waterfront or in one of its grassy knolls. The dog-friendly beach also features a concession stand, restrooms and changing stations.
