Burnaby Village Museum in Vancouver
What was life in British Columbia like 90 years ago? Located east of Vancouver in nearby Burnaby, the Burnaby Village Museum provides a true window in the past. Spanning four hectares of land in Burnaby’s beautiful Deer Lake Park, the open-air museum’s 31 vintage and replica buildings simulate life in a 1920s village, harkening back to a simpler time.
Among the Village Museum’s 20th century-style buildings are a school house, bank, bakery, grocery store, drug store, newspaper office, real estate agency, tram station, country home, farm house, bachelor’s pad, bandstand and fountain. The museum is also home to a restored 1912 Electric Railway tram car and an authentic C.W. Parker carousel from the same year, which is available for visitors to ride.
Burnaby Village Museum is located at 6501 Deer Lake Avenue and is currently offering free gate admission to commemorate its 40th anniversary.
