Parco Stromovka, Praga

Stromovka park is the most popular green area loved by the locals. You can have a picnic and it is recommended to get lost in the various paths through the park. Inside there is also the Planetarium, the summer home of the Governor, built during the Renaissance and restored in the nineteenth century, and Rudolph Stoll, an ancient underground passage that was used by the king.

Stromovka is the largest park area in Prague, and it used to be used as a deer hunting reserve for former Czech royalty.  Today it is popular because it’s a beautiful place to spend the day or relax in... more peace. Many people like to go there to skateboard, roller blade, bike, and jog, or play other recreational sports.  Be sure to come here if you are trying to get some early morning exercise or have a midday romantic picnic.  Upon further exploration, you will surely find a gorgeous neo Gothic Vice regent’s summer home from the 19th century. The building is used by the Library of the National Museum in Prague for holding important newspapers and magazines. In recent years, Stromovka Park was flooded, and lost more than 600 of its trees.  But this has not deterred locals and tourists alike from visiting and appreciating its peaceful beauty that is still intact.  Some might say that autumn is the ideal time to visit, as it complements Prague’s gothic and mysterious character.  Many travelers and tourists flock to Stomovka because several of Prague’s hotels are conveniently located in its general vicinity.
