Golden Lane is a street in Prague that is named after goldsmiths who settled there in the 17th Century. The original name of the street was Goldmakers Lane. Originally, Rudolf II was the king who built colorful little houses for the castle marksmen guarding the castle. A century later, the goldsmiths who moved here reconstructed the houses. At present, most of the houses shops offer goods like household products, books, spices, etc. The famous writer called Franz Kafka was an inhabitant in those times.
