Mount Sinai in Sharm El Sheikh
Sharm El Sheikh Sighseeings: Mount Sinai
A tour not to be missed if you are in Sharm El Sheikh is the one to Mount Sinai and the incredible St. Catherine's Monastery, located at the foot of the mountain.
In three hours you can get to St. Catherine's Monastery by bus, a beautiful example of Byzantine art and heart of the citadel founded in the sixth century by Emperor Justinian, in the right place where, according to Christian tradition, God appeared to Moses.
To reach the summit of 2,286 meters of Mount Sinai you can walk up the 3,700 steps of the so-called "path of Moses," or you can ride a camel and then walk up only 700 steps. In any case, the view from up there will be wonderful and magic.
On top of Sinai there are the Trinity Chapel, erected in 1934, but originally greek orthodox, and the Cave where Moses received the Tablets of the Ten Commandments.
