Arles Monuments and Historic Buildings: Abbaye de Montmajour

This structure was built by the Benedictine monks on the Majour Mountains in 948 and it overlooks the plains of Arles. There are 2 monasteries here, namely the monastery of Saint Pierre and the hermitage of Saint Pierre. The abbey church is dedicated to Our Lady and has a typical Romanesque style of architecture belonging to the mid twelfth century.
