The Grand Theatre of Bordeaux is located in Place de la Comédie. It was designed by architect Louis Victor in the XVIII century and, thanks to its classical structure, soon became a model for other opera houses in Europe. During the recent restoration in 1991, the theater has regained its original interior marble decoration. Its facade is impressive, with 12 Corinthian columns, while the balustrade is decorated with twelve stone statues of the nine muses and three goddesses.
