Bordeaux's Public Gardens were inaugurated in 1746 following the humanist idea of a panicked immersion of the human with nature, with the desire to create a green oasis in the city. They offer a pleasant path along the river. They are a national monument since 1935 and home to the Museum of Natural History and Botanical Garden.
