Cimiez in Nice
Cimiez is a high-ranked residential neighborhood in Nice located on top of the homonym hill, North-East of down town Nice. During Roman ages, the city of Cemenelum was in the place of Cimiez. The neighborhood is famous for its touristic attractions: the monastery of Cimiez founded by the Benedictines in the VIII century and the archeological museum of Nice Cimiez that includes all Roman ruins of Cemenelum, such as the arena, the baths, and the Early Christian basilica... Furthermore, the famous Nice Jazz Festival takes place in the suggestive park of olive trees where many international big musicians are proud to perform. Finally, the prestigious Matisse museum is a must; indeed, the artist is buried in the monastery's cemetery.
