The SS Rickmer Rickmers was built in 1896 in the shipyards of Bremerhaven, it was a large transporter with a steel hull. With a hull 79 meters long and 12 meters large, the vessel carried precious cargos of coal,  rice, bamboo, and other things edible and inedible.

This beautiful sailing ship (Museumsschiff Rickmers Rickmers) attracts visitors daily to the Landungsbrücken, that is, the 200-meter-long edifice where visitors board ferries to visit to the port.

The permanent exhibition introduces visitors to the world of seafaring and uses explanatory panels to illustrate the history of this fascinating craft and the difficult life of the sailors who lived aboard the ship more than a hundred years ago.
