Hamburg, like many other cities in Germany, is famous for its traditonal colorful Christmas markets that brighten the streets of the town center. The most important one is in front of the Town Hall, where every year you can see the Roncalli Circus, buy cotton candy and hand-made toys and other items that make truly original gifts. There’s a small amusement park in the market and they still have an old carousel with wooden horses.
The town hall market is open from 23 November to 31 December, every day, from eleven in the morning until nine at night.
Other markets in Hamburg include Fleetinsel, St. Petri Church market and the Hanseatic Christmas market in Gänsemarkt square.
