Every year Hamburg hosts fifty fairs in an area covering about 85,000 square meters and it is estimated that between one million and one and a half million visitors attend.

The two most famous fairs are the Boat Fair, "Hanseboot", held between late October and early November, and the Tourism Fair, "Reisen Hamburg", held in early February.

The fair is located at 1 Messeplatz, opposite the Dammtor intercity train station; the airport operates a shuttle service when events are on; you can also use the U1 (Stephansplatz stop), U2 (Messehallen stop) and U3 metro lines (Sternshanze stop) and bus lines 34, 35, 36.
