Cologne Streets and Neighbourhoods: information about Altstadt

The Altstadt, the old town, is located in the city center and is divided into two areas: North Altstadt and South Altstadt. The southern part of the old town is full of museums and monuments and holds most of the city's main attractions. One such site is the Cathedral, it is a 157 meter-high Gothic building which houses the relics of the Three Kings, it was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1996.
From the top of the cathedral you can enjoy a view of the Rhine and the surrounding countryside. In the Altstadt you’ll also find the traditional Altermarkt, the historic market which plays host to many shows and festivals.
