About 14 kilometers away from Stuttgart is a town with tall buildings in medieval Gothic style, with big parks, sights and roads that are reminiscent of landscapes in fairy tales.

It is called Esslingen am Neckar, it’s an imperial city which competed with the larger German cities, until its annexation to the Kingdom in the XIX century.

Despite being politically subordinate, Esslingen has kept its strength intact, it is a highly developed city, with industries and farming, but also a tourist destination close to the larger Stuttgart.
