Located in Munich, the Bayerische Staatsoper is a State building that enjoys a prestigious reputation throughout Germany.
Built between 1811 and 1818, the building is built according to the codes of neoclassical architecture and was inspired by the Odeon Theatre in Paris. Destroyed by fire in 1823, was rebuilt in 1825 but it was destroyed again during the Second World War. Despite its two reconstructions, it has retained its original splendor.
The National Theatre has staged the premieres by Wagner, Strauss, Reger or Orff works and still boasts a schedule of first importance.
