Abohar is a city and a municipal council in Firozpur district in Punjab, India. It is located on the Ganganagar-Delhi railway route. The population of the city as of 2001 was 124,303. This city is popularly known as the “California of Punjab” for its richness of irrigation sources, soil and for the production of Kinnow, which is a fruit from the orange family.
Abohar is also known for the production of cotton and is regarded as one of the biggest cotton producing belt in North India. Abohar is a beautiful historical city situated on the interstate boundary of the country. The boundaries of the city touch the mounds of Rajasthan at one end and Haryana plains at the other end.
The economy of Abohar is mainly depended on mills and industries. There are also a large number of refined industries and cotton industries. People depend on agriculture and the city is well connected to other cities through rails and road transport like bus.

Overall Guide : Abohar is a place situated near the Pakistan border. It is 73 Kms from Bathinda junction, 220 Kms from Amritsar, 228 Kms from Jalandhar & 260 Kms from Chandigarh. Distance from New Delhi is 374 Kms by Train & 385 ... Leggi tutto Kms from New Delhi. Rajasthan & Haryana are two adjoing states to the Abohar. It is very peaceful area. It is on world map for the Cotton belt. It was once upon a time famous as California of India. It is about 100 Kms from Lahore Pakistan. The world's famous treveller Iban batoota happened to visit Abohar from Lahore. He wrote in his diary - Two hours journey on horse from Lahore, a very beautiful place with a lot of greenery, well planed streets and chowks a place where famous "PANJ PEER" dargah is situated. Ex- speaker of Lok Sabha Mr Bal Ram Jakhar belongs to Abohar, who got Sir Name as "PANDIT" for production of mixed breed of oranges and Malta called "KINOOS" very famous fruit exported to all over India and abroad as well from Abohar area.
