Portoferraio

Portoferraio is a capital of The Elba Island, which lies on a headland at the west side of the opening to a broad bay on the northern coast. The fact that surprised me was that the Portoferraio was the main capital of this island which was separated in different shapes into different parts. First I thought of visiting the western side and to my surprise I saw a volcanic starting point and was upper in elevation then I saw the middle part was moreover plane and with small hills… the third part was the eastern part that included the very tiny area. Leaving the mountains I thought of visiting the main street through Garibaldi where I saw a Town Hall and a small way in northeastern side which was passing through Napoleone. I found out by a guide that there is a Misericordia church in which the soul of Napoleon is built up every year on the 5th of May, to my surprise I saw that his coffin is duplicated and has a model shed of his death cover. I also went to the highest point in the city it was known as the Piazza Napoleone and saw a very astonishing view. If you go to the west side of the city you will see the Fort Falcone and to the eastern side on top of the lighthouse was the Fort Stella Interensting fact is that both were initially built in the year 1548 the finished by Napoleon. I saw that the sea side of the cube is a very simple place called Villa dei Molini it was supposed to be the Napoleon’s authorized home which had his own library to read. When I was wandering I saw a road going to the western side starting of Portoferraio to the sea side hotel of Procchio in the inlet of the matching name and a rural community of Marciana Marina one of the most famous hotels. I also travelled to Monte Capanne in a cable car I came to know that it was the highest peak of the island. And if you have to see the entire view you have to reach the peak of Monte Capanne. The view from the cable car was amazing… it lead us to the top where I saw a coffee bar. It was pretty reasonable and affordable I had a very good experience. Recommended by the guide I went to a very satisfying mining town called Capoliver which was located on a neck of land in the southeastern side of the island. This town has very few residents residing. The entire village lives on the crown of a lonely crest. They say that it was found at the time of the Etruscan… the Roman age. One of the interesting facts which I found was that the Portoferraio is an olden Roman city and is called Fabricia. This is a very popular place on the entire island which was associated with the Etruscan occurrence. Since it had an impressive economy because of the iron mines and the business of Rasenna. Everything over here was outstanding I felt that I have come thousands of years back in the olden days…. A must visit place.
