Erice is a little town in Sicily (Italy) which has many things to do and especially to see. The Duomo is one among them. Duomo is the Italian term which is referred to a very important church. That’s the case of Erice’s Duomo, the Cathedral of the town. It’s a very ancient building and it’s one of the most important things to see in town. It presents a precious facade: an enormous window is right in the middle of it, and there’s a big dome on the top. Many decorations make it a real piece of art. The interiors are beautiful and interesting too, especially because of the presence of some paintings made by local artists.
Next to the main building there’s also a very tall tower. The whole complex overlooks the square in front of it because of its greatness.
This beautiful church, built in the 14th century, has a graceful neo-gothic appearance on the inside due to 19th century renovations. The detached campanile, even older than the church, was originally a medieval lookout tower.
