St. Apollinare Nuovo Basilica was built during VI century a.D. by the Emperor Teodorico. It has a cilindric bell-tower (about IX-X century), common in lots Ravenna’s buildings. Its musive decoration, that runs the entire lenght of the central nave with the apse, is remarkable: it is the biggest musive panel ever known.
The Processions of Virgins and Martyres are the most tipical rappresentation of the bizantin style. The entrance is in Roma’s Street. With the same ticket (€ 9.50), are also included the admissions at Neonian Baptistery, San Vitale Church, Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Archiepiscopal Museum and Chapel.
