Between Olbia and Santa Teresa di Gallura lies the Tomb of Giants called “Su Monte e s'ape,” considered the largest of these Nuraghic funereal monuments that are found all over the island and still hold much mystery and fascination among Sardinians and archaeologists alike.
The Tomb of Giants dates back to the Early Bronze Age, and it is believed that their semicircular formations were chosen because of the shape’s connection to both life and death. Similar structures have been shown to be built according to astronomical and seasonal alignments. They’re a fascinating look at the history of the island from another perspective. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re renting a car.
