Vallo delle Mura is one of the largest and the best preserved parts of the Aurelian walls. The display in museum is made on the first and second floor that was opened in 1990 and is classified into three sections- modern, medieval and ancient, each with explanatory texts, photographs and drawings narrating the fortification history of the city. The museum presents the models of different phases of construction of Aurelian walls along with three dimensional plan of Rome in a circular hall. One can see illustration of the palmettos, crosses and wheel patterns made with bricks by the workmen on the hanged plaster casts in the rooms of the museum. The terrace on the central section of the museum is also accessible to visitors.
