Rome is a beautiful city to walk in despite it being laid on seven hills. The views are probably the best places to head to.
Il giardino degli Aranci is a terrace that gives on the river not to far from the Bocca della Verità. Walk down and along the Lungotevere, surpass Trastevere, Prati, the Vatican to finally get to Piazza del Popolo; look up and just on top of the hill is the Pincio, probably the most famous view of Rome.
Stroll up the stairs and follow the route you'll find an opening that gives right on San Pietro, Piazza del popolo, the two Canova Churches and the whole of Rome.
Behind you is instead Villa Borghese, full of museums, pathways and even a zoo. It's enough already for one day.
