Ameyoko is a very popular market street in the city of Tokyo, Japan. It is situated along the Yamanote train line between Ueno Station and Okachimachi.
The name "Ameyoko" is derived from "Ameya Yokocho" which means candy store alley, as the place was traditionally known for selling candies. The street offers a great variety of merchandise like clothes, cosmetics, bags, dried food, fresh fish and spices.
The opening hours and operational days depend on the stores, but they usually open around 10:00 AM and close around 7:00 PM. Some of the stores are closed on selected Wednesdays.
