Founded in 1062, Marrakech was once the capital of an empire which stretched from Toledo to Senegal.
It is even called the 'Red City' because of the colour of the local earth used in its construction.
Marrakech is the imperial city which, about 1000 years ago, gave Morocco its name.
The Berbers and the Arabs come together here, to mingle with the nomads and the mountain people.
It is a city of alleyways, lovely buildings, museums, mosques and markets.
Every imaginable commodity abounds, craftsmanship flourishes, and there are palaces, hotels, restaurants, golf courses, a rich nightlife and a casino. This and much more is Marrakech, the unique capital of Southern Morocco.

Overall Guide : We traveled to Morocco for the first time in May and, thanks to Ismail and his wonderful staff, had the experience of a lifetime! We first arrived in Marrakech and, after spending a day on our own, were less than ... Leggi tutto impressed with the city's aggressiveness. So, we began our journey into Morocco feeling a little disappointed with our choice to visit. However, happy-morocco.com turned our entire trip around! We were whisked through the incredible Moroccan countryside in our own 4x4 and stopped along the way at beautiful overlooks, a Moroccan oil "factory," a fossil mine, an incredible gorge, Aït Benhaddou, a fortified city (also where parts of Game of Thrones is filmed!), and other beautiful locations! None of this compared, however, to the night camping in the Sahara desert, which we accessed on camel back! We enjoyed a delicious Moroccan meal, joined a drum circle with talented musicians, slept in traditional Berber tents, and watched the sun rise from the top of a dune. I will truly never forget the experiences I had in Morocco and we owne it all to Happy Morocco! Further, Ismail and his team are some of the most friendly and kind people I have met during my travels. From the beginning, Ismail was prompt at responding to my emails and when we had complications due to delayed travel, Ismail did not hesitate to rearrange our trip so that we could still make everything happen! Additionally, I lost my iPod in the sand one night during the trip and, while I was accepting the fact that it was gone forever, Ismail and four other employees set to work in the dark to find it and - what do you know - they did! I can't say enough good about Camel Excursions and I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an authentic Moroccan experience! It is well worth the money spent!

Overall Guide : This is a much overdue review! I visited along with 2 other female friends in March and we had the most incredible experience!! Moha came highly recommended to us by Peace Corp volunteers in the area. My friend booked with ... Leggi tutto Hakim and as soon as we arrived to Merzouga Moha kindly greeted us and drove us to the hotel.The main hotel is beautiful! Although we didn’t sleep there we enjoyed delicious Moroccan mint team, amazing conversations and an incredible breakfast after our night in the desert. My two friends and I got on our camels and were guided by Hakim and one of his staff. We had a great time on the trek and Moha went out of his way to take pictures of us on the camels to make sure we captured the incredible experience!Once at the camp site Hakim showed us where we would be sleeping - it was the most beautiful camp site I have ever seen. We enjoyed a delicious feast, listened to live music under the stars, danced the night away and shared incredible stories.Hakim really went out of his way to ensure we were enjoying our trip and felt safe and comfortable!! Overall Guide : It is really difficult to report the main attractions in Marrakech because the city itself can be considered as a big imposing attraction. Here are some places not to be missed: Djemmaa-el-Fna (Place of the Dead), the city square, always ... Leggi tutto crowded with dancers, fortune-tellers, musicians, acrobats, storytellers and snake charmers, it is surely an exciting place. Koutoubia, the 12th-century mosque, is as tall as the towers of Nôtre Dame and dominates all the Marrakech skyline. The Ben Youssef Medersa, the largest theological site in the Mahgreb. Other interesting spots to visit are the magnificent Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Dar Sisaid Museum, the Menara and Aquedal gardens and the charming camel market.
