El Ovalo in Cuzco
There are several great things to do and see in the El Ovalo neighborhood of Cuzco, Peru. This historical area is best-known for its vicinity to Estadio Inca Garcialso de la Vega, the city's principal sports stadium, which is also home to the Cienciano football team of Cuzco. Just north of the famous stadium is Plaza Tupac Amaru, a monumental park dedicated to the Peruvian revolutionary who lead the famous uprising against Spanish invaders in the late 18th century.
El Ovalo is situated directly east of Cuzco's city center, and also has much to offer in the way of Peruvian culture, including the well-known Ministry of Agriculture (Ministerio de Agricultura), and the National College (Colegio Nacionale) Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. The famous figure Garsilaso de la Vega, also known as “El Inca,” was one of the most influential writers and thinkers in Peru during the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
