Nowa Huta is the eastern district of Krakow in Poland. It is home to more than 200,000 inhabitants and is one of the most populous areas in the city. The historic area of this neighborhood is known as one of the few places in Poland settled continuously since Neolithic. Excavations show that there was a big Celtic settlement which was the oldest Slavic settlements here. The district grew rapidly after 1949, and was incorporated into Krakow in 1951.
