Located in the Al Bidda district, the famed Doha Fort is a Moorish-style fort. It is considered among the few surviving military fortresses in the city of Doha. It was constructed in 1880.
Used as Turkish military barracks at the time of the Ottoman occupation, the fort was later used as a jail. Today it displays a wonderful collection of traditional crafts such as weavings, paintings, intricate wood carvings, and gold work.
The monument surrounds a serene inner courtyard where the tourists relax beside the fountain. It opens every day excluding Friday and Saturday mornings. Entrance to the fort is free of charge.
