This church has been built to celebrate the liberation from the polish domination. However, the church that we can visit nowadays, located in front of the GUM (the main mall of Moscow, full of luxury brands) it’s only a reconstruction of the original one, destroyed in 1936 for the will of Stalin. The original church, built in the 17th century, conserved the original icon of the Virgin of Kazan, which – as commonly said – had helped russian people fighting against the polish domination in 1612. This nice orthodox church is painted in white and orange with nicely decorated interiors. The cathedral is open from 8 a.m till 7 p.m.
