Fuerteventura can by divided in three areas, in order to be visited: the North, the South and the inland. From Puerto del Rosario (the capital city) you can set off to visit the city and the fascinating small inland towns. I recommend to take the F20 towards Casilla de los Angeles and visit the church of Saint Anne. The altar is handmade and there is a XVIII century wooden stature of the saint.

The Church is closed because few tourists stop or nearly none… but I recommend a short break. You should ask the keys of the church to a woman who is always sitting in her garden and staring at the church. Looking at the church it is the first house on the right! Then back to your journey, I suggest you to visit  Betancury and Antiuga, coming back towards Casilla and pointing at at la Oliva… Betancury is the capital city… the entrance boulevards are flanked by palms… The church is wonderful to visit! Antigua will allow you to discover how the donkey millstone used to work, and to taste some good goat cheese, a specialty of the island… Nearby the parking there is a restaurant,hotel where to have a rest…Flowers are everywhere!

Short break also at Pajara… Take notice: between Pajara and Antigua: there is the aloe factory. It is worth visiting and buying products based on pure aloe 100%252525 and very cheap. From Anttigua take the road toward La Oliva, again. This was the first capital city of the island. The church and the house of the soldiers who used to patrol the island are very interesting. The place is nowadays used as the exposition area of the nearby  Art school and as a museum. At the exit there are always kids who want to go and see the drawings…. You choose! Before reaching Pajara you can stop at Ajui to relax in a dark sand  typical fishermen village.

In the second tour I recommend to visit La Pared, Playa Jandia, Cofete (if you have a SUV), The Calm Coast and Gran Taraja: small villages on the Ocean, with not much history, but still peculiar! At tarajal the beach is grey….there are many dark sand beaches here.

Back towards Puerto del Rosario, don’t forget to visit the salines and take pictures of the second whale skeleton (the first one is at Jandia). Caleta di Fuste is not worth visiting… it is a holiday resort. Puerto del Rosaio is not a nice city, but there is the only real shopping centre of the island.

Enjoy the cities, relax, and talk to the locals if you can… They will tell you incredible stories!
