The Galle Face Green is a promenade that stretches for half kilometer along the coat along the coast in the heart of business and financial district of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Earlier the Galle Face Green extended over a much larger area than is seen today. Galle Face Green at present is a ribbon strip of land of 5 hectare between Galle Road and Indian Ocean which is the largest open space in Colombo now days, maintained by UDA of Sri Lanka. This is one of the popular destinations for tourists, teenagers, children, lovers, kite flyers and for those who are interested in indulging themselves to their favourite pastime next to the sea under the open sky. On weekends the land becomes busy with food vendors, picnickers and trippers.
