Istanbul is a beautiful city that stands on two continents. One part of the city in Europe, the other in Asia. In this city two different cultures, Muslim and Byzantine, coexist and infuse to create a unique athmosphere.
When you arrive in Istanbul you are struck by the many and beautiful minarets (the tall spires of Islamic mosques), that spring up between houses. Whilst you are similarly struck by the regal Byzantine churches and palaces of the 18th century.
You can take ten days to visit the city but you can also do it in only two! Depending of course on how long you linger at each beautiful builing.
The most important monument is the Saint Sophia, formerly the Cathedral of Constantinople. You can't leave the city without seeing it!
