The Guildhall Art Gallery is situated in London, England and houses the art collection of the city. The building that the gallery is housed in is a stone building in a semi gothic style. The gallery was built originally in 1885 for housing art collections from the city of London Corporation, with the present collection having more than 4,000 works, of which 250 are on display at any one time.
Most of the paintings on display are of London themes. One can also see significant collection of Victorian era art like Pre-Raphaelites, having paintings by Edwin Landseer and John Everett Millais. The center piece of this gallery is a huge painting by John Singleton Copley’s, the defeat of the floating batteries at Gibraltar.
