America's love affair with the movies replays every night at Sunrise Cinemas at Gateway. From the vintage marquee to the classic lobby and theaters, Sunrise is dripping with an old-Hollywood feel.
Beware, though, that while the theater's age exudes charm, it also means there is no stadium seating and a bit of a musty smell.
While the building might be reminiscent of the days of the Production Code in the 1930s, the movies sure aren't. Yes, Sunrise screens all the big studio releases, but it also gives a platform to tons of indie films, including many gay- and lesbian-themed movies.
So, the movie selection is incredibly diverse and the atmosphere is charming and devoid of shrieking teenagers. Just make sure not to sit behind anyone too tall.
