The 3rd largest city in San Diego County is Oceanside. The city is so called, because it is located on the seashore. Oceanside, along with Carlsbad and Vista cities, make a Tri- City area in Californian State of the United States. The US Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is located to the north of Oceanside. This city has been growing rapidly over a short period. According to the 2000 census, the population is 173,303 residents. Looking at the fast economical growth, the city may exceed 200,000 residents by the year 2010.
Though, Oceanside is located in California, it has the mildest climate in the whole of United States. Due to the presence of the sea, the Mediterranean climate is suppressed a little and it becomes mild. The climate remains pleasant throughout the year. Hence, this area can be visited at any time.

Overall Guide : Oceanside city is blessed with a beautiful coastal line. The seashore is the major tourist attraction in the city. The Oceanic Pier is the longest wooden pier in the United States. It was built in 1888 and is 1,954 feet... more long. Oceanside is known for the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia. It was built in 1798 and it is one of the missions of Alta California. Oceanside is the home to Mount Ecclesia. It is the international headquarters of a fraternal and service organization, known as The Rosicrucian Fellowship. This place offers a picturesque view of natural grounds. The California Surf Museum exhibits the history, nature and art of the city of Oceanside. It is located in the downtown area of the city. Tourists can see a wide range of variety of surfboards in this museum. Such a vast collection of surfboards is rarely seen. Every year, on 4th July, thousands of local residents and visitors gather at the Pier to view the spectacular show of fireworks. This is a magnificent event that every visitor must attend.
