Taos is a small city in Taos County in New Mexico. Also known as ‘Town of Taos’, it houses a small population of about 5,000 permanent residents. Interestingly, the city takes its name from Taos Pueblo, an ancient tribe. The region is a blend of different communities and provides the visitors a varied and enchanting experience.
The climate in this region varies from moderate to extreme with all the four seasons. The weather could be sunny one moment and then turn chilly and wet in the other. Overall, it is one of the sunny cities of the county.
The long history of the town dates back to 1540, when the Spanish conquered the region, Taos is now a region overflowing with different cultures, and its economy consists of agriculture, tourism and construction.

Housing more than a hundred works of art by various Taos artists like Bert Phillips is the Firehouse Collection, which holds exhibitions where various fire engines as well as a rare antique fire engine are on display. The Taos Fall Arts Festival is an annual event which features art shows, arts and crafts fair, gallery openings and more. The festival is the representative of the region’s rich art and culture. When in Taos, do visit the Taos Plaza which offers a number of shops and other retail outlets selling attires, jewellery, ceramics, books, electronic items and much more. Shoppers are sure to delight in this place.
