Bus and Car Directions to South Point Hostel on South Point Road. We are located about 1/2 way between Kailua-Kona and Hilo on the south end of the Big Island called South Point Road. South Point Road is between the 69 and 70 mile markers on the main highway. From Hilo we are 69 1/2 miles. From Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - Main Entrance we are 40 miles. From Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - Kahuku Entrance we are about 1 1/2 miles. From Kailua-Kona we are 59 miles. FIRST BUS DIRECTIONS: From Kona Airport: Monday through Saturday the Hele-On Bus departs Kona Airport 4:50 PM arriving at South Point Road and the main highway at 6:45 PM, which in the winter will be dark. If you’re coming on that bus call me in advance at 929-9505. Please ask the bus driver to let you off at South Point Road for me to pick you up. From Hilo (there is no Hilo Airport bus pickup): Monday through Friday the Hele-on Bus departs the Kamehameha Ave main bus terminal on Bayfront Drive 2:40 PM and also Prince Kuhio Mall 3:05 PM arriving at South Point Road and the main highway at 4:55 PM, which in the winter is still daylight. NOW CAR DIRECTIONS: From either Kona or Hilo go in the direction of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. You’ll continue to the Ka’u District’s South Point Road between the 69 and 70 mile markers. Go down the South Point Road 1.4 miles to 93-2073 South Point Road. On the right you’ll see multiple cabins with a 3 story home in the back.
