Not only a religious environment but also a "temple" of art and culture: the old St. Paul's Chapel, dated to 1776, is the oldest public building in Manhattan, frequented by George Washington and within which also the workers of 9/11 have received assistance. As a modern representative of the community, the Chapel is also active online.

St. Paul’s Chapel, an Episcopal chapel opened in 1766 is the oldest public building still used. This is the precise place where George Washington had worshipped and 9/11 recovery workers received round the clock care. This site is a center... more for worship and the arts apart from being a place of pilgrimage for all people.  This is the oldest surviving historic building in this city. Address:          74 Trinity Place, New York, NY 10006 Telephone:       212-233-4164

St. Paul’s Chapel is located across the WTC site and is an Episcopal church. It was home to an unusual 8 months volunteer relief effort after the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. There are some interactive exhibits which honors... more the ministry and its legacy of love and compassion. St.Pauls’ Chapel is the oldest public building in Manhattan which is in continuous use.
