Old Jail Museum is a historic building and resembles a fortress which stands guard over the Jim Thorpe town. This is a beautiful two story stone structure which was constructed in 1871. It was used as the Carbon County Prison from 1871 till 1995. It has around 72 rooms, 27 cells and even basement dungeon cells. This historic building is best known as the site of the hanging of the Molly Maguires, seven Irish coal miners in the 1800s.
