The Poe Museum celebrates the life of Edgar Allan Poe through its exhibitions, lectures, publications, special events, school and educational programs. Edgar Allen Poe created or mastered five literary genres-the short story, detective fiction, science fiction, lyric poetry and, of course, the horror stories.
The Museum's mission is to interpret the life and times of Edgar Allan Poe and support the literary arts and early 19th century southern literary culture. Edgar, or Eddie as we affectionately call him here, loved women, beauty, art, and of course poetry.
