There is just as much to do in the desert surrounding Las Vegas as there is in the city.
Lake Mead National Recreation Area, less than 20 miles east of Vegas, is home to the Hoover Dam and excellent boating and hiking opportunities. On the lake itself, you can pack your own lunch on a kayaking adventure or take a sunset dinner — or brunch or mid-day — cruise!
Red Rock Canyon, less than an hour to the west of Vegas, is a stunningly beautiful sandstone mounds. To get out of the heat, head for Mount Charleston, an alpine forest setting 35 miles north of Vegas.
Adventure Las Vegas and Look Tours offer thrilling ATV and zipline rides, horseback tours and a walk around the haunted Techaticcup gold mine. You can even hop in a plane or helicopter and fly over Arizona's Grand Canyon!
