Main Street Pier - Daytona Beach Attractions
Wind in your face, the tangy smell of salt water in the air and an unparalleled view of Daytona Beach and the Atlantic Ocean - -the Main Street Pier in Daytona Beach, Florida is known as the "highway over the ocean," spanning 1000 feet of glistening white sand and sapphire waves that sparkle in the Florida sun.
The Main Street Pier is the longest pier on the entire east coast and boasts a lifespan of over 70 years, but it certainly is in great condition for its age. The Pier quells any craving for classic carnival cuisine, with its Main Street Pier Restaurant that serves dishes from seafood baskets to burgers, brats and beers.
If you prefer to catch your own food, the Pier is a great fishing location, providing fresh or frozen bait and a fishing pole rental service. The Pier’s main attraction isn’t the fishing or the food, however, but the breathtaking view. Gaze across the beach from 180 in the air in the observation tower, or take a nine-minute “flight” out above the ocean on the Pier’s legendary sky lift. Even under the blazing Florida sun, a visit to the Main Street Pier is a pretty cool way to spend the day.
