Larimer Square is named after General William Larimer, who came with hundreds of others to the area during the gold rush and staked out land with his son. The area grew quickly with saloons, Denver’s first theatre, post office, bank, a bookstore and dry goods store.
Today the one-block strip has a wealth of clothing boutiques, restaurants craft shops and clubs to suit everyone. Find upscale clothing at LaFame Boutique or Blush, the perfect eyeglasses at The Bent Lens, and a blueberry facial for your dog and western wear for yourself at Cry Baby Ranch. At night, check out the Lucky Star for dancing and the Comedy Works for laughs with any of their headliners who have included Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Dennis Miller.
Save room for a shop named Wednesday’s Pie, with the tastiest old-fashioned pies, that is if you visit before they run out of your favorite flavor.
