Red Hook is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn in USA. This neighborhood is a part of Brooklyn Community Board 6. Prior to its annexation into the 12th Ward of Brooklyn, Red Hook was a separate village. It is named after the red clay soil and the point of land which projects into the East River. Red Hook is the site of a large IKEA store which opened in 2008 near the Gowanus Expressway. Some of the events held in this neighborhood is the Red Hook Waterfront Arts Festival and the Sunday’s at Sunny’s.
