Denver Streets and Neighbourhoods: information about Sakura Square
HeaderPageTitle-GetPartialViewNoCache = 0,0009768
The Pagoda-style entryway to shops and markets and a Japanese garden at Sakura Square sets the tone for this plaza that holds a special place in the hearts of Japanese-Americans in northwest Denver downtown. The square is a perfect spot for the busts of Governor Ralph Carr and others who welcomed Japanese Americans with open arms to live in Colorado.
A 20-story apartment tower is the anchor of the square with restaurants, shops and Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese grocery stores. Visitors in late June will be treated to the festivities at the annual Cherry Blossom event which includes the Japanese tea ceremony, flower arranging, food booths and love music and dancing.
