Old West Durham historic district was settled prior to the city of Durham existence in early 1850s. This neighborhood was originally known by the name, Pin Hook. Until early 1890s, it was a traveler’s rest of hesitant reputation, when the Erwin Cotton Mills was built, transforming the area into a neat mill town. at present, this town is one of the most vibrant and eclectic neighborhoods of Durham.
